How to Plan a Holiday Party Your Team Will Enjoy

Six Things Great Holiday Parties Get Right

We've worked hundreds of corporate events since 2022. The ones people talk about in January have a few things in common.

1. Give people something to do. Mingling is easier with a task. A hands-on activity, a station or a game breaks the ice faster than a name tag.

2. Plan for non-drinkers from the start.
Make the zero-proof option as thoughtful as the cocktail menu, with a real name and a real garnish. Nobody should be holding a glass of water while everyone else toasts.

3. Do snacks in waves.
A small spread out within the first 30 minutes keeps energy up especially when consuming drinks and don’t forget to continue replenishing the food throughout the night.
Pro Tip: make sure to ask for allergies ahead of time! That way you’re vegan, gluten free, dairy free, pork free… etc. Team members feel included and considered.

4. Match the format to your team. In-office if people are often apart, giving them an opportunity to see their work space in another light. An off-site venue if they need a change of scene, virtual if your team is spread out globally.

5. Keep it shorter than you think. Two to three hours with impactful and fun networking activities beats an open-ended night.

6. Get everyone home safely. Share transit options, set up a ride share code or end before the last trains. It's the detail that all your team will appreciate

Booking for 2027 already? Most venues and hosts book holiday dates months ahead. If a cocktail class, mobile bar or kit-plus-virtual session fits your team, we're happy to talk it through.
